A Faster Upgrade to Movable Type 3.15

The “critical upgrade” to Movable Type 3.15 can be done a little quicker: by checking file dates, it appears that uploading just the following will perform the upgrade from version 3.14: docs, lib and php folders. mt.js and styles.css files….

The “critical upgrade” to Movable Type 3.15 can be done a little quicker: by checking file dates, it appears that uploading just the following will perform the upgrade from version 3.14:

  • docs, lib and php folders.
  • mt.js and styles.css files.
  • mt-upgrade31.cgi, if you need it for some odd reason.

That is good to know because I hadn’t updated any of my static files because I assumed those had not changed. I will have to do that later.

Actually only three files really changed. ie if you wanted to patch the exploit you only needed to upload Util.pm, Mail.pm and MT.pm

The folders you listed above especially lib/ always change!

Just upgraded a blogs www.jointeffects.com to MT 3.15, and can’t send email notifications any more. The error I get:
Can’t use string (“ARRAY(0x898e4cc)”) as an ARRAY ref while “strict refs” in use at…
Seems that quite a few people have this problem.

Did anyone solve it yet?

I’m currently using MT 2.661, but I’m in the process of upgrading to MT 3.0+. As part of the “pre-upgrade” process I
did an upgrade of MovableType from Berkeley to MYSQL database. I thought your blog readers would find my directions helpful.
